After fishing for hours, still no Axolotl logs but a friendly fisherman mentors her.

“Are you sure this is the way I’m supposed to cast the rod?”

A short while later, she fishes up a box and inside it is …

Upon examining it, Addy notices some odd markings on the inside of the band. She can’t read it but figures the sad-looking blue bear is sure to know something. I mean, that’s what you do, right? Go talk to the Sim wearing a bear COSTUME about rings found while fishing.

No need to go anywhere as The Ring Bear, Sammy Garcia, approaches her. Addy asks if knows anything about a ring.

Sammy casually tells her that it has some kind of special romantic magic and the inscription mentions a fountain. Weird for sure. He knows about the ring’s special property but isn’t fully sure about the inscription.

He vaguely points his paw in the direction of the nearest fountain and Addy heads over to inspect it.

Odd markings along the bottom of the fountain match those inside the ring. Who knew that Addy’s vision is so good?! Not me, that’s for sure. Even with glasses I sometimes have trouble reading small print so will take a pic that I can enlarge LOL

Back to Sammy she goes but Addy isn’t sure she should ask since he’s acting like he has been stabbed in the heart.

He gestures with his paw and she tells him about the fountain. His response isn’t surprising … go elsewhere and take a look. A wall this time. Some mention of gnomes. Gnomes? That’s unexpected. What gnomes? He doesn’t say anything more on the subject.

Addy hunted high and low for a wall that would somehow stand out. Eventually, she finds it!

More markings. This time the ring is mentioned … something about how to activate it.

Time to seek out Sammy and see if he knows more.

To Addy’s surprise, she learns that the ring belongs to him. His fiance returned it after ending their engagement. Guess he tossed it away in order to step away from the pain he endures each time he looks at it.

He also confesses that he dresses as a bear because it reminds him of good times with his mom.

After a long moment, Sammy decides he’s ready to stop being a bear.

Addy tells him she’s glad he did and hopes he finds something that makes him smile more often. She can’t or won’t give empty platitudes of “you’ll meet someone when the time is right” because not every Sim seeks a relationship and it would be rude of her to assume he did.
