Twas the day before Winterfest,
Laireen35 hopes Father Winter got her request.

A traditional Japanese-style home inspired by Geisha or Samurai,
Something that would use items like tatami flooring and bonsai.

With a bit of brainstorming,
An idea began forming.

Time to reveal what was designed,
Hopefully, it’s what you had in mind.

Minka, or traditional Japanese houses, are characterized by tatami mat flooring, sliding doors and wooden engawa verandas. Another aspect that persists even in Western-style homes in Japan is the genkan, an entrance hall where people remove footwear.

Front

To one side of the house is the Meditation Path

The Upright Cherry Tree adds a splash of color to the serene surroundings.

The other side of the house has a native plant bed and herbal garden.

Time to see the inside of the house.

The Foyer (Genkan) is where sims will remove their shoes before entering the rest of the house.

The open area contains casual space for greeting guests, a house shrine for loved ones and an area for eating.

The closet in the eating area contains various oils and ointments.

A set of double doors leads to the Kitchen.

Hygiene needs are taken care of in separate spaces.

The Walkway (Engawa) connects different parts of the house.

The end nearest the Kitchen has a second toilet.

Upon exiting the house on the backside, there is a rock garden bordered by native plants.

Follow the path to a bench nestled beneath a Japanese Beech Tree.

The other side of the path leads toward the pond. Fish in the convenience of your own backyard!
