Messy House Challenge: Before

Sara arrived after the moving company had left. Through the windows, she could see various pieces of furniture and knew the movers hadn’t followed all of her instructions.

“There’s still plenty of time to get things in order … once I find the key!”

She checked both doors but couldn’t find the lock box that had been present when the realtor showed her around. Seeing the neatly hedged yard made her smile because she could easily imagine where her lawn furniture and grill would go.

“Summer cookouts are fun and I look forward to hosting them here!”

Returning to the front with a puzzled look on her face, Sara checked the mailbox and found an envelope with her name written on the outside in the realtor’s neat script.

“Thank goodness! I’m glad she remembered.”

There was a key and a brief note inside the envelope.

Dear Sara,

Please accept my sincere apologies for arriving after the movers were gone. Rest assured that I called and lodged a complaint on your behalf. You’ll be receiving a partial refund within a few weeks but unfortunately, they’re booked solid through the next month and are unable to send a team out to personally assist you with correcting this matter.

Please do not hesitate to call me if you have any questions regarding this matter.

Sincerely,
Regina at SimRealty

“I’m sure I’ll be fine.”

Sara went up to the front door and inserted her key.

The key turned in the lock. Sara turned the doorknob and began to enter … only to find something blocking the door from fully opening.

“Perhaps I spoke too soon?”

Sara sucked in her stomach and squeezed through the small opening. Once she saw what the blockage was, her mouth fell open.

“How did this happen? Some of these items aren’t even mine.”

Sara pulled out her phone and began filming what she saw as she carefully walked throughout the house.

“Hopefully the upstairs are in better shape!”

Much to Sara’s dismay, it wasn’t.

A stunned Sara sat in the stairwell for a few minutes while she gathered herself and her thoughts.

“This is going to take longer than expected!”

Sara called the moving company about the delivery mix-ups and worked out a way for them to collect what wasn’t hers as well as delivering what was. She also called the realtor and informed her about what had happened, strongly suggesting they use another moving company in the future.

She also called to reschedule a few appointments before rolling up her sleeves and getting to work …

~ One Week Later ~
The work is done! It took a lot of elbow grease, fresh paint and new flooring plus the correct furnishings to turn this house into a home.

Sara is proud of her accomplishments and rightly so!

    1. It was! I ❤ doing these times of challenges and wish I could find more. Glad you liked the story behind my sim doing what she did. I find it easier to figure out what to do with a build once I decide on who is living there & why.
